The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and works together with the Bible to support and illustrate the life and ministry of the Savior Jesus Christ. With clear declarations from the Bible, we learn that “Christ [was] an high priest of good things to come” (Hebrews 9:11) and established His doctrine upon the face of the land in the surrounding areas of Jerusalem. He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38) as He was baptized (John 3), finding those which were lost (Luke 15), and healing all who came unto Him (Mark 5).
The Book of Mormon is another book of scripture that clearly explains these acts and testifies to the divinity of the Son of God, written by the hands of prophets in ancient America. Like Abraham, Moses, and Peter, these prophets kept an ancient record of their travels from Jerusalem to a new promised land. They testify of Jesus Christ and His atoning power to save all mankind. As Christ states in John 10:16, “Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” As the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ came to visit His people in Jerusalem after His resurrection, so too did He visit His apostles in the Americas. This account is recorded in the Book of Mormon. In it, Christ once again established His doctrine upon the face of this new land proclaiming, “Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world. And behold, I am the light and the life of the world” (3 Nephi 11:10-11).
The Book of Mormon teaches us perfectly the Gospel of Jesus Christ and allows us to witness the divinity of the Savior’s life as it becomes connected with the Holy Bible. As “God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being; but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity” (Moroni 8:18), we can see with these three testaments, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). All are invited to partake of His goodness, no matter where you may be.
